July Zuma was born in Durban, South Africa. He began his vocal studies in 2002 at University of Cape Town with Prof. Angelo Gobbato. Between 2009-2011 he continued his studies with Eduardo Giminéz at the Conservatori Superior de Musica del Liceu (Barcelona).
While still a student, he sang roles such as Des Grieux (Manon, Massenet), Gastone (La Traviata), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi) and Fenton (Falstaff – Extracts). After he had completed his Diploma in 2005, the young tenor won engagements at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Saló dels Miralls (Barcelona) and the Teatre Principal de Santanyi (Mallorca), as well as at the International Chamber Opera Festival of Rheinsberg. In 2012 he sang in the Concierto las Voces de Montserrat Caballe in Saragoza. Today he continues his artistic work with Cesare Colona. He has lived in Berlin since 2010.
